CUES, focuses on the accessibility and acceptability of sustainable food, helping the most vulnerable communities to make healthy and responsible food choices. OpenDot contributes to the project by developing food education tools and consumer engagement strategies to raise awareness of food safety, labeling, and circular production models. The project supports the transition to equitable food systems by integrating innovation, public health, and active citizen participation.
As part of WP4, OpenDot is developing open-source educational tools for primary school children, with a focus on those from migrant or minority backgrounds. The project aims to address unequal access to information on food sustainability and raise awareness of its environmental, social, and cultural aspects. The goal is to create an educational experience that promotes healthy, sustainable food practices, such as seasonality, local sourcing, plant-based diets, and organic production methods, while also celebrating diverse food traditions and fostering intercultural dialogue from an early age.
Two focus groups with individuals over 65 will engage the target audience for the digital intervention, exploring knowledge on food sustainability and purchasing behavior. The second line of intervention aims to bridge the information gap in food sustainability, often created by platforms designed for already educated audiences. To address this, we are organizing a European digital hackathon with designers, communication experts, graphic artists, videomakers, and social science researchers, aiming to develop creative solutions that improve access to food sustainability information and create lasting cultural impact.
