"Milano Ministry of Youth" is a research project dedicated to young people living in Milan, commissioned by the Chamber of Commerce of Milan, Monza Brianza Lodi in collaboration with the Municipality of Milan and Milano&Partners.

The research, carried out by Open Dot in collaboration with Globus et Locus, aimed to explore, gather insights and experiential suggestions on four themes

  • work
  • living
  • sport
  • nighlife

The path was developed through informal participatory activities, useful for the exchange of knowledge and dialogue, with young people and for young people, in order to reflect on transversal issues that see them as protagonists and that have an impact on the quality of their lives in Milan.

  • Some phases of the workshops realized for "Milano Ministry of Youth"

The process of involving young people aged 18 to 24 was divided into three phases, the outputs of which were used as input for the next phase.

  • In the preliminary phase, phase 0, desk research was conducted and questionnaires were administered to young people and stakeholders working with the younger generation.
  • Subsequently, in phase 1, engagement events were organised for the target group 18-24, through community engagement aperitifs and the collection of problems/needs and direct experiences.
  • In phase 2, four co-design tables were set up with the aim of grounding the vision of Milan's youth and young people in 2030, through the lens of Speculative Design.
  • Sport - Playground arena
  • Work - New job is no job
  • Nighlife - Nighlife for all
  • Living - Alternative living

During the whole process, more than 80 young people were involved and 350 replies to questionnaires were collected.

The co-design process lasted 5 months.
