Making Fashion Last / 2025 - Residency Program
Rethinking fashion through a sustainable lens
2025
Innovative manufacturing, Circular Economy
The Making Fashion Last 2025 residency was an opportunity to radically rethink what fashion can become in a world that is constantly evolving. By challenging traditional paradigms and embracing a more conscious approach, the selected designers developed innovative ideas that place sustainability at the core of the creative process.
Making Fashion Last is a project conceived and curated by OpenDot as part of the Distributed Design initiative, funded by Creative Europe.
Over the course of an intensive five-week residency, four international designers—selected through a dedicated open call—explored themes such as reuse, upcycling, and adaptive design. Supported by the Distributed Design network, the residents developed projects that push the boundaries of conventional fashion, envisioning new materials, processes, and forms. Each participant brought their own unique perspective, contributing to the creation of solutions that blend craftsmanship, technology, and social impact.
The outcomes of the residency were presented in a public exhibition held on February 14 and 15. The showcase featured not only the final projects, but also the creative journeys, experiments, and reflections developed throughout the residency. On display: Parasuli by Cristina Falsone (Canicattiva), Zibuttonia by Bassant Abo Zeid (Panse Studio), Interwaste by Mirko Michelacci (Earlisir), and Lace Reimagined by Joana Meyer Duró (Joana Michaela).
