MakEat is an experiment that combines food, design and digital fabrication. The project investigates new relationships between food, product and experience and was the result of a partnership between OpenDot, Stefano Citi of TourDeFork and Francesco Bombardi.

Following a request from Acetaia San Giacomo in Reggio Emilia, participants explored the relationship between gesture, form and taste generated by combining two gourmet products such as traditional balsamic vinegar and chocolate. The design approach of MakEat projects focuses on the experiential aspect, introducing new interactions between user and utensils.

Eight products created by eight designers provide stimulating scenarios of culinary interactivity. The products were made in the OpenDot Fab Lab using rapid prototyping technologies and a participatory design approach.
