“Fare un orto è un gioco da bambini” is a mobile vegetable garden designed to start an educational path in MUBA – Museo dei Bambini Milano. Creating and managing a vegetable garden stimulates the discovery of the plants’ biological cycle and the natural agriculture principles.

The aim is to introduce children to the world of agriculture in a recreational way, passing on ancient knowledge and traditions. By learning to observe nature's signals, children can come into contact with the surrounding natural elements - earth, water, weather, seasons, the life cycle, biodiversity, respecting their cycles and experimenting with collective work practices.

The mobile vegetable garden is the brainchild of the ColtivArti Association and was co-designed and implemented with OpenDot, with the support of the Zona1 Municipality in agreement with the Milan Parks and Gardens Department. The structure is designed to accommodate children from two years and up and is divided into two modules on wheels that can be separated, assembled and transported. Two different heights ensure that the garden and workshops are accessible to children of different ages and wheelchair users.
