CNC Milling: Shopbot
Cnc milling technology achieves professional results for woodworking and plastic prototyping of parts.
It removes material from a piece using a hi-speed milling tool.
While simple 2D woodcutting can be easy, complex 3D cutting or working using plastics can be more challenging.
Since this is a three-axis milling machine, it cannot produce parts with undercuts or two sides in one pass. By adjustment, parts can be worked from two or more sides to achieve 3D sculptures or complex mechanics.
The machine can produce the following: flat panel woodworking with joints and pockets, architecture model bases made in solid wood or foam, large foam moulds for pouring concrete or plaster, small plastic parts for mechanisms.
Machining area:
2500 mm x 1500 mm (x, y)
Machining height:
280 mm. The maximum workable material is less and depends on tool length and the type of cut.
Spindle speed:
5000 - 15000 RPM.
Typical feed rates:
Woodworking: 1000 - 4000 mm/min
Plastics: 400 - 1500 mm/min
Available mandrel diameters:
2 - 3 - 4 - 5 - 6 - 8 - 12.7 mm
These are the sizes of tool shanks the machine can use.
Price:
1.5 dot per machining minute (material not included).
For the first job, a €35 surcharge is applied for assistance in preparing the file to be sent to the machine and the material on the work surface.
